Yuri Suzuki’s sound sculpture from recycled Red Stripe cans

This year’s Notting Hill Carnival prompted iconic beer brand Red Stripe to start looking for creative ways to recycle their cans. They’ve created a video series called ‘Make with a Red Stripe’ that will bring together skilled artists, designers and musicians to find innovative way to turn old Red Stripe cans into something more.

The first video in the series is called ‘Make something from nothing’. Sound artist Yuri Suzuki has many years’ experience creating pieces that marry his passions for art and technology. He took on the task of creating recycled can art with enthusiasm, inspired by the DIY Jamaican sound systems created by reggae and dub musicians.

Suzuki and his crew were provided with thousands of recycled cans collected in part at Notting Hill Carnival. They tied cans together then attached them to a huge wooden frame, creating a 2.5 metre speaker.

He handed the finished sound system off to two musicians, DJ Al Fingers and singer songwriter Gappy Ranks, to be tested. Fingers hooked his equipment up to the sound system and Ranks improvised reggae inspired lyrics into a microphone stand topped by a Red Stripe Lager can.

The sound system was then unveiled at the Village Underground. Various reggae and dubstep artists, including Ben UFO and MC Chunky, used the sound system to entertain the guests. The sound system surpassed everybody’s expectations for sound quality and visual impact.

Draw Manga

Watch it more an more so you wouldn’t miss anything of it that can affect the whole drawing.

Relying on just a single drawing book or guide isn’t enough but you need to employ more than one option. Such materials and books are easily available online as well as in the shops and markets so you can collect them to work more dynamically to give livelier outlook to your manga character.
